Craft Show Confidential: Dallas Flea

Yesterday we had a booth at the Dallas Flea, and what fun it was!  Boy, it was HUMID though!  The South Side on Lamar is a really great venue and ideal for craft shows.  But unfortunately it has no AC, so if it is hot outside, it’s hot inside too.  They did put large fans throughout the venue but the closest one to use was blocked by other vendors, so it didn’t do too much good.

Despite the heat, we still had a great time.  We are still pretty new to the craft fair scene, but I am quickly learning that I love taking part in them!  My favorite part is all the cool people that I meet at them.  We have been super lucky and have had really amazing and talented booth neighbors at all our shows thus far.  This time it was the amazingly nice and amazingly talented Natalie of Ornamental Things.  She makes awesome jewelry using recycled vintage pieces.  My favorite is this absolutely PERFECT vintage locket (above) with vintage photos inside that Natalie added.  Super cute and creepy, and you know how I like creepy!

We also had the opportunity to meet Christine Visneau of Little Bean.  We only recently found out about Little Bean, but once we did, we wanted to buy everything in the shop!  I particularly have my eye on these little finger puppets.  So cute!

Aside from meeting great fellow vendors is meeting all the people that come to shop at craft fairs.  You meet such cool people with such interesting stories and get to talking about all kinds of things.  And this being our third big show, we are starting to get some return customers and we love hearing about what they have done with their new shirts and gifts from us and how much they love them!

I’m a little bummed that we don’t have any “big” shows planned until September, but I am looking forward to a little down time to make some new designs and tees.  I’d also really love to find some time to paint, but who knows if that will happen.  I’m still really looking forward to the smaller shows in the interim like Shakespeare Dallas.  Should be a lot of fun and a totally new experience and I don’t even know what to expect!  We will be selling at seven different shows through June and July.  More details to come!
